Find Treasure Through Digital Public Library of America

Wouldn’t it be a thrill to find a digitized image or record about an ancestor where you least expect it? For example, a bible record for ancestors born in Texas turning up in a North Carolina archive. Kind of like finding pirate’s treasure, right? Only it could be your own personal family treasure.

The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) takes us on a treasure hunt during an online webinar you can view on their website. I saw how I could explore the digital collections of hundreds of archives from the comfort of my home or office. DPLA is a free, powerful search engine that combs the digital collections of many archives, museums, libraries and heritage organizations.

So what do you do with the digital treasures you find through DPLA? Turn it into a video about an ancestor’s story that will amaze your family! I invite you to discover how to make that video happen in my Ancestors Alive On Video course. You can learn more here.

The link for the DPLA webinar replay is https://dp.la/info/get-involved/workshops/. Or, you can go straight to dp.la (yep, that’s the website address, short and sweet) and start searching. Let me know what treasures you find!
